Painting the screen layout

The next step is to draw out the screen layouts. This can be done by selecting option 3 from the main menu. REMEMBER you must be processing the right item. When defining the screen for the main booking routine, check that EXAMPLE is displayed against ITEM NAME on the option selection screen.

The screen layout for the main booking screen, i.e. item 'EXAMPLE', is given below.

Enter this screen a shown. Then repeat the process for the item cost entry screen, i.e. item 'EXAMPLEA', as displayed in the following figure.

REMEMBER that to change to processing the new item, you must return to the login screen and specify EXAMPLEA for the ITEM NAME. Once again, select option 2 from the main menu to get into the screen painter.

Try and use as many of the functions as possible while painting the screen. Particularly useful will be the M (iddle) function. A quick tip is to enter everything straight onto the screen while in INPUT mode and then go into FUNCTION mode to format and align the text you have just entered.

Note the use of the '~' to indicate cursor positions and field lengths. Also note the screen name in the top left hand corner. This is a useful addition to a screen for later when trying to track down which screen requires enhancements from those present in a live system.
