Prompt Index

The number displayed down the left hand side of the screen denotes the sequence in which the defined fields will be processed. It also acts as a tag for each field so that it can be referenced when it comes to defining additional validation and insert items.

This is a display only field generated by the system and as such no function keys are applicable.

This value should not be confused with Curs Pos field. They control two separate and distinct functions. The Prompt Index value determines the order in which the fields are to be processed. The Curs Pos gives the position on the screen where the input will be handled when the associated field is processed.
