PARADYME has a number of system function keys that it recognises by utilising the [TAB] key. After pressing [TAB], the user may press another key to signify a system function. One of those functions is the extended function key set . After pressing [TAB] the user can press 'F' to indicate that the function key option has been selected. This can then be followed by any key on the keyboard. This the returns 'FUNCTION ' followed by the key depressed to the PARADYME routine. This can be used by the program to invoke a given process.
Although the full set of keys on the keyboard are available to the user, if the user enters 'Y' for this parameter, 2 keys will perform special functions. These are 'F' and 'Q'.
[TAB] F F will result in the cursor jumping to the O.K. ? (Y/N) prompt from any point on the screen, provided the cursor is after the last of the key input fields.
[TAB] F Q is only relevant for windows and will result in the cursor jumping from any point within a window to the next prompt after the window.
If the user does not wish to incorporate these features into their system the should press [RETURN] or enter 'N' for this field. Note that most of the PARADYME parameter entry screens incorporate this feature including the screen described in this chapter.
