File layout definition |
There may be times when the user wishes to move an attribute or set of attributes to a different position within the file definition. This is achieved by first doing a copy / save.
If the user enters either 'C=' (C for copy) or 'S=' (S for save) optionally followed by a number, the system will save the attribute name and all other details on that line. It will repeat this for the following lines as many times as specified with the 'C=' command.
For instance, if the user is positioned on the line with 'Att' value of 2 and types in 'C=3', the system will copy the details for attributes 2, 3 and 4. If the user does not enter a value after the '=' the system will default the number of lines to 'COPY' to 1.
Note that the details are copied into a temporary buffer which is only initialise on entry to this definition screen. Therefore, the user can copy/save attribute definitions from one file layout record, change to another file layout and load it into the different layout record.
