Groups

The groups specified here are four character codes. These also appear on the user code profile record. The systems checks to see if any of the codes on the user profile match those specified for the option profile. The result of the matching process together with the VALID/INVALID flag will then determine whether the user has access to this option.

If the user is authorised for this option, the specified link routine will be carried out. If the user is deemed to be invalid, the standard error message given above appears.

If both groups and user are blank, the system assumes that there are no restrictions to access beyond line and account verification.

Note that the security checks on user ID and group are both dependant on the user logging onto the account using the PARADYME logon system to register who they are. The logon routine will file away the ID of the user as they log on. This filed item is then accessed by the security system.
