Link ID


The last part of the option definition is the link specification. This specification comprises of a number of parameters which define the process linked to the option. These parameters are grouped together on a single record and are defined in another screen. To identify that record, simply enter the ID of the link definition record.

If the user knows the ID of the link record, they can enter that ID directly. However, if the link record exists but they do not know the ID, they can hit the [INVERT] key. This will bring up the text selection entry. At this entry they can enter part of the option description. The system will then display all the records that contain the specified text as part of their description. The user can then select the process reference from the list presented on the screen. If they do select an option, on return to the menu definition screen, the selected ID will be present in the input field.

If the user wants to specify a process that does not already exist, they can define a new process directly from this screen by hitting the [HELP] key. If they do hit the [HELP] key they will be presented with the link maintenance screen. This screen is described in more detail later on in this section.
