Error Message Number

The link between an error message and its associated validation is made through the ERROR MESSAGE NUMBER field. The value entered must be numeric and will act as a label to the associated error message. It must also be unique within any one PARADYME item.

The ERROR MESSAGE NUMBER is entered in the prompt definition screen against the validation expression. It indicates which error message should be printed out if the condition is true for the validation entered. The error message printed is the one entered on the same line as the ERROR MESSAGE NUMBER entered in this screen. Note that the link between validation and ERROR MESSAGE NUMBER is made in the previous option.
